AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE INSPECTOR

This is a Term Position NTE 13 Months. In order to qualify, you must meet the general experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
Qualifications:
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8800-Aircraft Overhaul Family, General Aircraft Overhaul. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of a AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE INSPECTOR without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS:
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Basic knowledge in the various trades and craft specialties to evaluate/inspect workmanship, e.g., Aircraft Mechanic, WG-8852; Aircraft Electrician, WG-2892; Sheet metal Mechanic (Aircraft), WG-3806; etc. 2. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 3. Ability to read and interpret a variety of technical data such as schematics, diagrams, blue prints and technical orders relating to aircraft maintenance, and methods and procedures. 4. Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems to include jet engines, electrical, pneudraulic/hydraulic, egress, landing gear, oxygen/nitrogen, flight controls, munitions and structural maintenance on T-6, T-38, T-1A aircraft. 5. Knowledge of inspection techniques; ability to inspect and evaluate work performed to ensure technical order compliance, adequacy of repair, quality of workmanship and use of proper methods and parts. 6. Knowledge of various phases of T-6, T-38, and T-1A aircraft maintenance such as periodic inspections, corrosion control, structural repair, electrical systems, pneudraulics, etc., in order to perform inspections and evaluate suggestions and technical order changes. 7. Knowledge of tools, equipment and materials accounting and security; ability to use tension meters, protractors, templates, and gauges required to check aircraft for correct rigging procedures. 8. Knowledge of aircraft weight and balance to accomplish weight and balance inventory and calculate results. 9. Knowledge of security and safety requirements as outlined in applicable standards, technical orders, regulations and policy statements. 10. Ability to operate a computer and related equipment. 11. Ability to clean work area and/or job site upon completion of work. Working Conditions:
Works inside and outside. Outside work may be performed in adverse weather. Some work is perfonned on the flight line and is subject to loud noises from jet engines. Possible danger from explosives while inspecting canopies and egress systems. Possible exposure to hazardous chemicals. May be required to work uncommon tours of duty. Physical Effort:
Considerable standing, walking and climbing in and out of aircraft. PART-TIME OR UNPAID
Experience:
Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
